At Woodpecker, every timber project follows a clear, coordinated process from raw material to finished installation. By keeping design support, sourcing, fabrication, finishing, quality control, and shipping under one roof, we can manage each detail with accuracy, efficiency, and care.
Our process is designed to make timber construction easier for architects, builders, and homeowners by keeping every stage clear, coordinated, and carefully managed.
From early planning, shop drawings, and material sourcing to CNC cutting, hand craftsmanship, finishing, bundling, and installation support, each step is connected to the next. This integrated approach helps reduce errors, improve timelines, and ensure every timber component is fabricated to the project’s specifications before it arrives on site. The result is a smoother building experience and a timber package that is accurate, organized, and ready for assembly.
From the first sketch to final installation, Woodpecker provides design and engineering support throughout the timber framing process. Working with specialty engineers experienced in heavy timber construction, we help develop practical solutions that support your project’s structure, design intent, and long-term performance.
We source wood fibre directly from sawmills in Alberta and British Columbia and keep a large inventory of rough-sawn timber at our Exshaw facility. This allows the wood to properly acclimate and reduce moisture content before fabrication, helping improve stability and performance.
Timbers are pre-cut and prepared in our 15,000 sq. ft. facility using a combination of CNC technology and skilled hand-cutting. By fabricating components in a controlled shop environment, we improve accuracy, reduce on-site construction time, and help keep installation moving smoothly.
Texture and finish play an important role in the final look and feel of a timber frame. From smooth planed beams to brushed, sanded, stained, or clear-coated surfaces, we help select finishes that suit the project’s style, environment, and performance needs.
Quality control is built into every stage of fabrication. Shop drawings are reviewed before production begins, and each timber component is inspected throughout the process to ensure it meets our standards. Before shipping, pieces are bundled, labelled, and prepared for efficient assembly on site.
Installation requires careful planning to ensure the timber frame is assembled safely, accurately, and efficiently. We coordinate delivery, installation sequencing, and lifting requirements for each project, with options for full installation services or support for your on-site construction team.
Our manufacturing process is designed to deliver quality, speed, and consistency from start to finish. With built-in checks at every stage, we reduce errors and improve reliability, so you get a better product every time. This approach also cuts down on waste and delays, helping you stay on schedule and within budget.
With in-house planning, CNC fabrication, careful bundling, and coordinated delivery, our process helps reduce site delays and supports a smoother build for both residential and commercial projects.
We combine skilled timber craftsmanship with advanced fabrication technology to produce accurate joinery, clean detailing, and strong visual impact. The difference shows in every beam, notch, and connection.
From responsibly sourced timber and environmentally conscious finishes to our near-zero-waste shop practices, our manufacturing process supports healthier buildings and a more sustainable future.
At Woodpecker, we do more than manufacture timber. We bring your vision to life with deep expertise, cutting-edge technology, and a commitment to excellence. Whether it’s a custom timber home or a large-scale commercial timber structure, we deliver the entire timber manufacturing process under one roof.
