TEEPEE TOWN CLT
This 7,810 sq ft commercial/residential project, featuring CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) and Glulam elements, was the first of its kind in the Canmore area. The mass timber components were delivered in sea containers, and the structure was erected in under two weeks. While the exterior walls and structural glulam beams remain exposed, the interior walls are drywalled, creating a unique atmosphere that avoids the typical “wooden box” appearance.
The materials were carefully selected for their suitability in a mixed-use setting, with retail stores and shops on the main floor and residential units above. Mass timber not only provides thermal mass for steady and comfortable interior temperatures, but also offers excellent soundproofing, a feature often overlooked in commercial construction.
