Position Summary

Do you know Hundegger CNC machines and want to put your skills to work? We’re seeking a motivated full-time, permanent CNC Machine Operator – Hundegger Robot Drive / Robot Max (m/f) to operate the centerpiece of our production facility in Exshaw, AB (close to Canmore, Alberta).

Responsibilities

At Woodpecker, we combine traditional German and Canadian timber frame joinery with the world’s most advanced technology. Our Hundegger Robot Drive is where innovation meets the wood, turning complex timber designs into legacy structures. As a CNC Machine Operator, you are the bridge between digital designs and physical craftsmanship. You will be responsible for high-precision cutting of everything from simple, standard components to the most complex European-style joinery.

Your daily activities will include:
• Machine Operation: operating and mastering the Hundegger Robot Drive / Robot Max.
• Precision Cutting: executing timber cutting for a wide range of components, including traditional Timber Framing and modern Mass Timber (CLT/Glulam).
• Software Mastery: working daily with Cambium software to ensure seamless production.
• Maintenance & Care: taking full ownership of machine operation, including routine maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep to ensure peak performance.
• Quality Excellence: performing rigorous quality control on finished components to ensure they meet our high standards.
• Team Collaboration: working closely with our drafting/design team and production management to bring blueprints to life.

Qualifications

We are looking for a technician who respects the wood as much as the machinery. You should be a detail-oriented professional who thrives on accuracy.

• Hundegger Expertise: Proven experience operating Hundegger CNC machines is required.
• Technical Background: A solid foundation in timber construction, carpentry, or wood technology.
• Joinery Knowledge: A deep technical understanding of complex timber joinery and timber framing methods.
• Precision Mindset: An independent, precise working style with a “zero-error” approach to quality.
• Reliability: A team-first attitude and the dependability required to manage a key piece of our production line.

Benefits

We offer more than just a job; we offer a career at the forefront of the timber framing industry in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

• Long-term career in full-time, permanent employment with competitive compensation
• A positive, collaborative, innovative, eager and fun team
• Competitive compensation with wages starting at $30-38 per hour with 9.25 hours per day and 44 hours per week
• Full extended benefits package available after 6 months
• 3 weeks of paid vacation
• Work in the beautiful Canmore area, surrounded by the Rockies
